The
Dynamic Gateway

Representing a crucial access point to the RAD, on foot and by Docklands Light Rail (DLR), the pair of Grade-II  Listed buildings sitting proudly at the mouth of the site will unite to form a gateway. With swathes of public space and community uses - this gateway will come to serve as a crucial landmark.

Public Realm First.

Once serving as a Buffet for dock-workers (inset), the Easternmost heritage building lends itself to serve as a central community hub. Four doorways make for active edges on each facade of the building - what's more, all can be acessed without ascending or descending steps, representing optimal inclusivity.

Its open-plan dining-hall is ideal for serving as a versatile and resilient meeting place, a physical manifestation of the community akin to a town or village hall, doubly representing the site's heritage.
